Schloss Ringelheim

Schloss Ringelheim is a former monastery situated along the Innerste River and now stands as an impressive manor house surrounded by extensive grounds. The park was designed in the English landscape style and features winding paths alongside a curved lake that enhances the natural setting.

The structure originated in the 10th century as a monastery with religious significance for the region. In the early 1800s, the von der Decken family acquired the property and transformed it into a private noble residence, fundamentally altering its purpose and character.

The castle served for generations as the residence of an influential family and continues to shape the region's character. Visitors can sense the traces of this noble past throughout the rooms and grounds.

The castle is easily reached by public transport, particularly via the nearby Salzgitter-Ringelheim train station. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes since the park grounds invite walking and connecting paths extend into the surrounding countryside.

The park was created in 1847 specifically for a new family and has since become an important part of the local recreation landscape. The designed landscape with its pathways seamlessly connects to the broader hiking routes of the region, creating a flowing transition from the private grounds into the open countryside.
