Deweerth'scher Garten, Historic park and archaeological site in Elberfeld district, Germany

Deweerth'scher Garten is a park covering around 1.8 hectares with walking paths, ponds, water features, and open areas to rest, surrounded by residential buildings and historic villas. The grounds offer different zones for activities including table tennis, boules, a children's playground, and outdoor dining areas.

The garden was founded in 1802 by merchant Peter de Weerth as a pleasure garden and later divided during 19th century construction of Luisenstrasse. This street development split the original private garden into separate sections.

A memorial and water sculpture by artist Carlernst Kürten stand in the park as reminders of those who suffered under Nazi rule. These artworks shape the character of the space and invite visitors to reflect on this period.

The site is easy to reach with wide paths suitable for children and older visitors. Benches and shaded areas provide places to rest, and nearby local restaurants make it simple to get food and drink.

Archaeological digs in 2003 uncovered pottery pieces dating from 600 to 400 BC during construction work. These discoveries show that people lived in this area in ancient times, long before the modern garden took shape.
