Schloss Wildenwart, Medieval château in Frasdorf, Germany
Schloss Wildenwart is a château in Frasdorf featuring traditional Bavarian design with formal gardens, decorative wrought iron fencing, and a bridge approach. The estate displays the characteristic layout of a noble residence with carefully planned grounds and ornamental details.
King Francis I acquired the castle in 1862 from a mining company and immediately began extensive restoration work. This renovation transformed it into a modern royal residence with the comforts of the era.
The chapel opened to the surrounding community starting in 1862 and became a gathering place for local people. Royal hunts and celebrations brought court life to the grounds during summer months.
The castle is a private residence and can only be viewed from the outside through its entrance gates. Visitors can photograph the façade and grounds from the gateway area and appreciate the architecture from the street level.
A building adjacent to the castle, once an inn called the Schlosswirtschaft, now operates as a restaurant and displays King Francis I's coat of arms as Duke of Modena. This emblem hints at a lesser-known connection between the Bavarian monarch and Italian territories.
