Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, Art gallery in Theatinerstrasse, Munich, Germany.
The Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung is an art gallery in central Munich spanning three floors within the modern Fünf Höfe complex. White walls and bright rooms create an open space where artworks ranging from ancient times to the present day are displayed.
The foundation was established in 1983 and initially operated from another location before relocating to its current site near Odeonsplatz in 2001. This move allowed the institution to settle within the prestigious Fünf Höfe complex.
The gallery regularly presents works by local and international artists, emphasizing dialogue between Old Masters and contemporary positions. Visitors encounter a mixture of art history and current conversations that deepen understanding across different periods.
The gallery is centrally located between Marienplatz and Odeonsplatz, easily accessible on foot from Marienplatz U-Bahn station. The spaces are ground-level accessible and barrier-free, making visits comfortable for all guests.
The spaces were designed by renowned Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, offering an interplay between architecture and art display. The minimalist environment itself becomes an important part of the visitor's art experience.
