Schloss und Park Eulbach

Schloss Eulbach is a château surrounded by a 400-hectare English landscape park in the Odenwald region. The grounds feature several structures including an obelisk, a lakeside chapel, and an artificial ruin assembled from architectural elements of earlier buildings.

A hunting lodge was transformed into a summer residence around 1800 by Count Franz I of Erbach-Erbach, who developed the large park around it. The artificial ruin was built later to reflect the romantic fascination with vanished structures.

The grounds contain Roman-era archaeological finds from the Limes frontier, with reconstructed gate structures and carved inscriptions that visitors encounter throughout their walk. These discoveries reflect the ancient settlement of the region and remain woven into the park experience today.

The park is located at about 510 meters elevation between the districts of Vielbrunn and Würzberg and is best explored on foot. Wear sturdy shoes since the walk across the large grounds passes through varying terrain.

The park houses bison and other native animal species in enclosed areas that visitors can observe while strolling through. These living inhabitants add a modern dimension to the historic setting and bridge nature with the past.
