Sender Visselhövede, Radio and television transmitter tower in Visselhövede, Germany
Sender Visselhövede is a steel lattice tower standing 167 meters tall with multiple antennas for radio and television broadcasting. The facility transmits on various frequencies, delivering both analog FM radio signals and digital DAB+ radio since November 2011.
The facility began operations in 1974 and quickly became essential to radio coverage in the area. The British Forces Broadcasting Service established its presence that same year, and stereo broadcasts arrived in 1976.
The transmitter broadcasts programs from public and commercial radio stations that reach households throughout the region every day. This combination of channels shapes what people hear on their radios and see on their screens in their homes and cars.
The tower is visible as a landmark in the surrounding landscape and forms part of the area's visual character. Keep in mind that this is an active broadcasting facility, so access to the base may be restricted for safety reasons.
The facility underwent a technical modernization in 2019 to implement the new DVB-T2 standard for television broadcasting. This upgrade significantly improved picture quality for viewers throughout the region.
