Casa de Goethe en Vorpertshausen

The Goethehaus Volpertshausen occupies a protected half-timbered building that formerly served as a hunting lodge of the Nassau-Weilburg Counts in Hüttenberg.

The structure, constructed between 1719 and 1721, functioned as a school and teachers' residence until 1965 before its transformation into a museum in 1992.

The museum's ballroom preserves the memory of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's meeting with Charlotte Buff on June 9, 1772, which influenced his novel 'Die Leiden des jungen Werther'.

Each floor of the museum presents distinct exhibits, with agricultural tools on the ground level, period-furnished living spaces on the first floor, and traditional costumes in the attic.

The cellar houses an authentic shoemaker's workshop, while exhibits showcase tools used in the production of the regional specialty 'Hüttenberger Handkäse'.
