Leuchtturm Pelzerhaken

Leuchtturm Pelzerhaken is a white cylindrical tower with a red top located in Neustadt in Holstein on the Lübeck Bay. The structure emits navigation lights in white, red, and green across the Baltic Sea to guide ships safely.

The lighthouse was first built between 1842 and 1843 under Danish rule with a height of 12 meters. The tower underwent significant expansion in 1936 when its height was increased to roughly 19 meters as regional maritime needs grew.

The structure displays symbols reflecting Germany's maritime heritage and the region's connection to the sea. These emblems on the tower show how this lighthouse represents the sailing traditions of Schleswig-Holstein.

The lighthouse is easily reached from the beach or walking paths along the bay and remains visible throughout the day. Since the structure sits in a coastal landscape, expect changeable weather and windier conditions than inland areas.

The site is surrounded by several older buildings, including a structure from 1926 and dwellings added during the 1936 expansion. These companion buildings reveal how the lighthouse complex evolved over decades as operational needs changed.
