The mansion represents the architectural legacy of northern Schleswig-Holstein, with its structure reflecting changes in German aristocratic residences through centuries.

Located in the Schwansen district, the manor includes preserved gardens with a central avenue dating from 1737 and functions as a private residence.

Between 1951 and the 1970s, the building operated as student housing for Louisenlund boarding school before becoming a rehabilitation facility until 2005.
