Klingemühle

Klingemühle is a historic grain mill near Friedland located right beside Klinge Lake in the Schlaubetal nature area. The facility now contains residential apartments with 56 fixed beds total, expandable with extra sleeping arrangements to accommodate additional guests.

The mill was first documented in 1517 under the name Khlingemole with ownership confirmation granted by Landvogt Heinrich Tunckel von Bernitzko that same year. It ground grain for surrounding communities for centuries until ceasing its original operations in the early 1800s.

The mill was the central place where farmers from the area brought grain to be ground into flour. This work shaped daily life and connected the surrounding community to this single location.

The property sits directly on the water within a large forested area, making access best via local roads through the region. Visitors should know the setting is defined by natural surroundings and quiet environment, so sturdy footwear is recommended for exploring the grounds.

Guests can rent canoes for free and paddle through the surrounding waterways within the expansive forest, something many visitors overlook. This access allows people to explore the quiet landscape from the water and experience the natural setting up close.
