Freilichtmuseum Neuhausen ob Eck is an open-air museum displaying about 25 historical buildings that once belonged to different communities across southwestern Germany. The structures include farmhouses, workshops, a school, a church, and a store, all arranged to show how a rural village functioned.

The museum was founded in 1988 to preserve buildings dating from the 16th to 19th centuries that represent how people lived across different parts of southern Germany. These structures were moved here from their original locations to protect architectural traditions before they disappeared.

Artisans demonstrate traditional crafts throughout the grounds, from spinning wool to forging metal and weaving cloth. These daily practices give visitors a sense of how people once worked with their hands as part of everyday survival.

The grounds are easy to walk through on your own pace, with clear pathways connecting the buildings and good signage throughout. Wearing comfortable shoes is important since exploring all the structures involves considerable walking, and the site offers shaded rest areas for breaks during your visit.

Working cottage gardens and orchards on the grounds are tended by staff, with geese and ducks living around the village pond as they would have historically. These active gardens and animals make it feel like a lived-in place rather than a frozen display of the past.
