Waldemarturm, Medieval tower in Dannenberg Elbe, Germany
The Waldemarturm stands 33 meters tall with brick walls up to 3.5 meters thick and features five internal levels accessible through 113 steps.
Built around 1200 by Count Heinrich I of Dannenberg, the tower held Danish King Waldemar II as prisoner between 1223 and 1224.
The tower now houses the Dannenberg Local History Museum, displaying exhibitions about Slavic settlements and regional historical collections.
Visitors can climb to the top of the tower for views across Dannenberg and explore various historical exhibits spread across multiple floors.
Archaeological excavations in 1967 revealed ceramic vessels from the 14th to 16th centuries and Slavic pottery fragments from the 9th to 12th centuries.
