Castra of Arnsburg

The Castra of Arnsburg is a Roman military fort near Lich with stone walls and defensive structures that show Roman building techniques. The remains still outline the original layout of the camp today and provide insight into its strategic organization.

The fort was built in the 2nd century after Christ as part of the Roman border between the empire and Germanic lands. It was one of several fortified positions that Rome built to protect its frontier in this region.

The site is accessible year-round and allows visitors to explore the remaining walls and layouts on foot. Sturdy shoes are recommended since it is an archaeological site with uneven terrain.
