Industriegut Hammer, Industrial heritage monument in Laufamholz district, Nuremberg, Germany.
Industriegut Hammer is a metalworking factory site in Laufamholz district that spreads across multiple buildings along the Pegnitz River. The complex contains a manor house, workers' dwellings, mills, and production buildings that preserve the layout of a former industrial settlement.
The site started as a mill in 1372 and expanded over centuries into a center for brass production in the region. Under Bavarian rule after 1806, it became one of the most important metal foil producers in Nuremberg.
The factory shaped worker family life through on-site housing and schools built within the complex. These structures show how industrial owners then organized daily existence and community for their employees.
The grounds are accessible year-round, but the metalworking museum operates only from Easter through October. Wear sturdy shoes since many pathways between the older buildings are uneven and can be muddy.
Metal foil produced here reached markets in Asia by the 1700s and was highly sought after by European craftspeople. A silver medal at the 1834 Munich Industrial Exhibition confirmed this international reputation.
