Haus Wenge

Haus Wenge is a two-story manor house in Dortmund featuring brick construction with distinctive stepped gables and stone-framed windows in a Gothic style. The building has been carefully renovated in recent times while preserving its original architectural character and historical elements.

The property began as a farm called Lanstrop, which was purchased by the von der Wenge family in 1373. Its oldest structural elements trace back to the 1200s, showing how it evolved from a farmstead into a manor house over centuries.

The house serves today as a community gathering space where locals attend theater, music, and art events throughout the year. These activities give the historic building a vibrant role in the neighborhood's social life.

The roof spans 25 meters and relies entirely on self-supporting wooden beams held together only by wooden nails. This demonstrates remarkable medieval carpentry skill that achieved structural stability without any metal fasteners or additional supports.
