Seepark Lünen, Public park in Lünen, Germany
Seepark is a large recreational area centered on Lake Horstmar, spanning roughly 60 hectares and including protected natural zones. The lake provides designated swimming areas, and walking and cycling paths run along the shoreline.
The site was originally home to Zeche Preußen, a coal mine that operated from 1929 until the region's mining industry closed. In 1996 the industrial grounds were transformed into a park and the mining spoil tip was reshaped into the landscape.
The natural amphitheater hosts concerts and theater shows that draw local crowds throughout the year. This venue serves as a gathering place where residents experience live performances in an outdoor setting.
The park offers activities like disc golf on a 24-course layout, swimming at sandy beach zones, and walks on clearly marked paths. Visitors should wear suitable shoes, especially if rain has made the ground wet.
The old mining spoil tip from Zeche Preußen was artistically reshaped and is now a striking landscape feature of the park. Additionally, the Bastion artwork installation stands on the grounds with large red and white poles created by artist Erich Reusch.
