Hans Otto Theater

Hans Otto Theater is a theater company in Nördliche Vorstädte operating from a building with distinctive shell-shaped roofs made of concrete, glass, and steel. The main venue seats around 485 spectators, while additional performances happen at the Reithalle and the Palace Theatre located in the New Palace.

The theater takes its name from actor Hans Otto, who was persecuted and killed by the Nazis in 1933. The current building opened in 2006, replacing the earlier venue.

The theater presents classical works alongside contemporary pieces and maintains strong programs for younger audiences. This mix of old and new shows how the venue serves both traditional and innovative theatrical traditions.
