Casa della storia Lutherstadt Wittenberg

Casa della Storia is a history museum occupying three floors of the historic Zeughaus building in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The exhibitions document how the city developed over 700 years and changed through different historical periods and functions.

The building itself originated as a medieval armory and was later renovated and repurposed for different uses over the centuries. These changes mirror the various phases that the city itself experienced through time.

The name Casa della Storia reflects an Italian connection to the town's past and cultural identity. Visitors can observe how local traditions and community life evolved through different eras, displayed through everyday objects and documents.

The museum is straightforward to navigate with rooms accessible via stairs or elevator across all three floors. You should allow enough time to explore the exhibitions at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed through the displays.

The first floor displays relics from the collection of Frederick the Wise, the founder of the local university. Visitors can also see a detailed miniature model of the city from 1873 that shows what Wittenberg looked like 150 years ago.
