St. Verena, Religious building in Rot an der Rot, Germany.

St. Verena is a church with neoclassical style positioned on a hillside between the valleys of the Rot and Haslach rivers. The building features a prominent tower and houses seven bells, most of which are located in the Norbertus Tower on the southern side.

Its origins trace back to 1126 when it was founded as part of a Premonstratensian monastery. The current structure was built between 1777 and 1786 after several fires destroyed earlier buildings.

The interior features detailed baroque woodcarvings in the choir stalls created between 1691 and 1693, showing the skilled craftsmanship of that era. Visitors can observe these intricate works up close and sense the time invested in each carved detail.

The church remains active with regular Catholic services, so visitors should check timing before arriving. The hillside location makes it easily accessible and offers good views of the surrounding landscape.

The ceiling paintings depict biblical scenes including the transfer of white vestments to Norbert and the presentation of twelve-year-old Jesus in the temple. These iconographic choices reveal what the monastic community valued most about this place.
