Stift Borghorst

Stift Borghorst is a medieval monastery and church complex in Steinfurt with several historical building sections spanning different periods. The west tower dates from the 12th century, while the chapter house and other structures from 1701 complete this religious ensemble.

The monastery was founded in the late 10th century by Countess Bertha of Borghorst as an important religious center. Her daughter Hedwig became the first abbess and led the community through its early generations.
