Kauppenbrücke

The Kauppenbrücke is a modern road bridge crossing the Main valley near Aschaffenburg and carries traffic on the A3 motorway between the Bessenbach and Weibersbrunn exits. The structure uses two parallel main girders that support the roadway and handle traffic flowing in both directions.

The bridge was built between 2009 and 2011 as a new structure replacing an older 1959 design. This replacement modernized the road connection and increased the capacity of the motorway in this area.

The preserved pillars from the former 1959 bridge structure have been transformed into climbing towers, adding recreational value to the local community.

The bridge is easily accessed from the A3 and provides four traffic lanes with two lanes for each direction of travel. Access is via the motorway itself, as the structure is not designed for pedestrians.

The pillars from the previous bridge were repurposed as climbing structures after demolition and now serve the local community as a recreational facility. This transformation shows how old infrastructure can find new purpose.
