Blender, Communication tower in Wiggensbach, Germany
Blender is a transmission tower in Wiggensbach featuring concrete construction rising 115 meters into the sky. The structure includes multiple working platforms and a 16-meter operational control room for managing broadcasts.
The transmission tower was built between 1982 and 1983 by Deutsche Bundespost to replace an older steel lattice mast at the site. Operations began in October 1984 with the new facility.
The transmission facility connects communities across the Allgäu region through radio broadcasts and serves as a communication hub for the surrounding areas. It plays a central role in keeping local residents informed and connected.
The facility broadcasts digital radio programming and mobile communications services across the Oberallgäu district. The tower is located in a forested mountain area and is not accessible to the general public without special permission.
The structure was built at a high elevation in the Alpine foothills, which helps its broadcasts reach across the mountainous terrain below. This positioning makes it particularly effective for covering the rural Allgäu landscape.
