Amalienorgel, Baroque pipe organ in Karlshorst, Berlin, Germany
The Amalienorgel is a baroque pipe organ in the Church of Good News in Lichtenberg with 22 registers across two manuals and pedal. Its gold-carved wooden case in rococo style rises about 6 meters high and dominates the church interior.
The instrument was built in 1755 by Johann Peter Migendt for Princess Anna Amalie and originally stood in Berlin City Palace. It was moved to the Church of Good News in 1960, where it has remained ever since.
The name Amalienorgel honors Princess Anna Amalie, who commissioned the instrument. Today it serves mainly for concerts and teaching, with its baroque sound filling the church space.
The organ is located in the Church of Good News at Weseler Strasse 6, easily reached by U5 metro line to Tierpark station. Concerts happen regularly throughout the year, so checking the current schedule beforehand helps plan a visit.
The instrument underwent careful restoration in 2010 while retaining all original baroque-period registers. This makes it the only surviving organ of that era remaining in the city.
