Ohrbergpark, English landscape garden in Emmerthal, Germany
Ohrbergpark is an English landscape garden in Emmerthal covering about 45 hectares on Ohrberg hill. Open meadows dominate the southern areas while light woodland covers the northern sections.
Georg Adolph von Hake, a former courtier of King George III of Hanover, founded the park in 1818 following his studies of garden design in Switzerland and England. His experience shaped the character of this place.
The park follows English landscape garden traditions, with azaleas, rhododendrons, and rare trees such as ginkgo and dove trees shaping its appearance across the seasons. These plantings create a distinct look that changes throughout the year.
The park is located about 3 kilometers south of Hameln city center and offers free access at any time of day. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes for walking the paths and allow time to explore the different sections.
The park sits on Ohrberg hill, which rises about 80 meters above the valley and offers views over both the Emmer and Weser river valleys. This elevated location provides wide-ranging views across the landscape.
