Rundkirche Untersuhl

Rundkirche Untersuhl is a medieval circular structure with thick whitewashed walls and half-timbered upper levels. A pointed tower rises above the round roof to complete its distinctive shape.

The building arose during the Middle Ages near a merchant route and served travelers as both a lookout point and a prayer chapel. Its location made it an important stop for people crossing the region.

The interior features baroque galleries decorated with paintings depicting apostles and notable figures from earlier centuries. These artworks continue to shape how the space looks and feels today.

The building sits along a cycling route and is easy to reach on foot or by bike. Regular services take place, so visiting hours may vary depending on religious events.

During restoration work in the 1990s, medieval wall paintings emerged showing religious use going back to 1420. This finding pushed back the building's known history earlier than previously thought.
