Schloss und Landschaftspark Steinhöfel, Neoclassical château with landscape park in Steinhöfel, Germany

Schloss und Landschaftspark Steinhöfel is a two-story château with a nine-bay main facade, flanked by low side wings and surrounded by an English-style landscape park. The grounds include smaller pavilions and garden structures that punctuate the property and shape the visitor's experience of the grounds.

The château was built around 1730 by the von Wulffen family and underwent a complete redesign in 1790 when architect David Gilly was commissioned by Valentin von Massow. This neoclassical transformation established the appearance it retains today.

The estate demonstrated rural architectural ideals and today functions as a place where historical landscape design coexists with contemporary hospitality. Visitors can explore the park layout and experience how the main building relates to the carefully shaped grounds around it.

The property now operates as a hotel with approximately 25 rooms and 50 beds, many offering views of the surrounding park. Visitors should be aware that the estate functions as both lodging and cultural site, so access to different areas may be limited to specific times.

King Friedrich II and his military staff rested in the park before the Battle of Kunersdorf in 1759, a moment notable in regional history. This episode reveals how the estate served as a strategically important place during times of war.
