Schloss Urfahrn

Schloss Urfahrn is an 18th-century castle in Oberaudorf featuring architectural elements typical of that era. The estate comprises a main building, a chapel, and two auxiliary structures with tent-shaped roofs.

Johann Georg von Messerer, an Electoral Commissioner for Brewing and Court Councilor, had the castle built between 1721 and 1727. The architect Johann Baptist Gunetzrhainer designed the structure during this construction period.

The castle functions as a venue for weddings, conferences, and family celebrations throughout the year. The variety of rooms, including the Romantikgewölbe hall, shapes how visitors and guests experience the space today.

The castle is located west of the Inn River near the Carmelite Monastery of Reisach. Visitors should know that the estate primarily functions as an event venue and hotel.

The castle is the only structure of its kind built in the upper Inn Valley during the early 18th century. Its construction marked a rare architectural investment in this mountainous region at that time.
