Schloss Weißenborn, Renaissance château in Weißenborn, Germany
Schloss Weißenborn is a Renaissance château with three stories built from rubble stone and featuring late Gothic details under a plastered facade. A small interior courtyard sits at its center along Frauensteiner Straße.
The site was documented as early as 1228 when Rudegerus de Wizenburne was mentioned in connection with this location. The structure standing today was substantially rebuilt during the 16th century and has remained since then.
The name reflects the medieval settlement of Weißenborn that existed here for centuries. Today the building remains a focal point for the community and its local gatherings.
The château is located southeast of Freiberg in the Mittelsachsen district of Saxony and can be reached from the village roads. Visitors should be aware the building sits in a developed area with limited outdoor space around it.
A single family, the von Hartitzsch, held the property for over four centuries before ownership changed in the early 1800s. This extended family tenure shows uncommon continuity across a period of significant upheaval.
