Schloss Wolfshagen, Baroque château in Groß Pankow Prignitz, Germany

Schloss Wolfshagen is a late Baroque two-wing structure with white facades adorned by yellow details, positioned along the banks of the Stepenitz River. The surrounding park features landscaped gardens that frame the building and create a peaceful setting for visitors to explore.

The Gans family constructed the present building in late Baroque style between 1771 and 1787, building upon foundations of a medieval water fortress dating from 1147. This layering of centuries reveals how the site evolved from a fortified stronghold into an elegant residence.

The castle shows how noble life unfolded in these rooms through original furnishings and collections that speak to everyday habits of Brandenburg nobility. Visitors can observe preserved interiors that reflect the tastes and customs of the families who once lived here.

The castle welcomes visitors to explore exhibitions and concerts, while also functioning as a venue for private celebrations and business gatherings of smaller groups. The park surrounding it offers pleasant walking routes where you can view the building from different angles and enjoy the riverside setting.

The Second Prince's Chamber displays grisaille paintings derived from copper engravings by the renowned artist Daniel Chodowiecki, reflecting the artistic taste of the era. This uncommon decoration demonstrates how nobility employed sophisticated artistic techniques to enhance their private quarters.
