Schloss Nassenerfurth, Renaissance château in Nassenerfurth, Germany.
Schloss Nassenerfurth is a Renaissance castle built from three large interconnected buildings arranged in a semicircular pattern around an eastward-facing inner courtyard. A stair tower occupies the center of this courtyard layout.
An original water castle was built in 1338 under ownership of the Holzadel brothers but was destroyed in 1485 during landgrave conflicts. The present structure was erected around 1600 by Asmus von Baumbach.
The stone archway at the entrance displays decorative details and a double coat of arms representing the von Baumbach family. These symbols reflect the noble families who shaped the castle over centuries.
The castle houses the Schweizerhaus hotel section and serves as a venue for civil marriage ceremonies. Visitors should check ahead to see if wedding events are scheduled, as these may restrict access to certain areas.
Since 2018, director Otto Kulka and actress Bettina Hauenschild have maintained a herbal garden on the castle grounds. Regular seminars and events are held there, bringing contemporary life to the historic site.
