Schloss Ottenburg

Schloss Ottenburg is a castle complex situated on elevated terrain in Eching that blends medieval roots with classical architecture from later periods. The main building features a distinctive hipped roof, while a 19th-century chapel completes the compound.

The site dates back to the 8th century and underwent major expansion under Bishop Otto of Freising in the 12th century. It sustained damage during the Thirty Years' War but was later restored and adapted for residential use.

The castle reflects its transformation through the architecture and layout you can see today, with spaces designed for comfort rather than military defense. Its chapel and residential areas show how these places served as seats of power and leisure for their inhabitants.
