Schloss Pilsach, Manor house in Pilsach, Germany.
Schloss Pilsach is a manor house in the Bavarian town of Pilsach that stands on a small island surrounded by a pond. The building has a rectangular shape with a distinctive residential tower and a steep hipped roof, while its interior now houses a gallery featuring contemporary glass art collections.
The castle suffered severe damage during an attack by troops of Gustavus Adolphus in 1632 and was subsequently rebuilt in its entirety. This reconstruction shaped its current architectural form and ensured its survival to the present day.
Klara Hofer's 1924 publication about a hidden room discovery connected the castle to the Kaspar Hauser story, generating significant public interest.
The visit focuses on the art gallery inside, where you can view contemporary glass art displayed across several rooms of the historical building. The surrounding pond area also offers a pleasant walk around the castle structure.
The pond surrounding the castle is fed by the Pilsach stream and functions as a natural water system that has existed for centuries. This natural arrangement has served as a protective barrier and remains an essential feature of the site.
