Saalebrücke Rudolphstein, Prestressed concrete arch bridge in Rudolphstein, Bavaria, Germany.

The Saalebrücke Rudolphstein is a prestressed concrete arch bridge that spans the Saale River, rising to a height of 35 meters. The structure comprises multiple parallel elements and carries traffic on the Bundesautobahn 9 between Berlin and Munich.

The bridge was constructed in 1936 and suffered damage during World War II before being restored in later years. A newer prestressed concrete structure was subsequently added to handle the growing traffic demands on this important transport corridor.

The bridge was named the 'Bridge of German Unity' in 2006, symbolizing the connection between former East and West German territories. Visitors can sense this symbolic meaning when crossing the highway and traversing the historical divide between the two regions.

The bridge is part of a major federal highway and carries daily traffic with separate lanes in each direction. Keep in mind that access is only possible by vehicle, as the structure is designed for highway transport.

The bridge complex comprises three parallel structures, with the original older bridge being supplemented by a newer construction from the 1990s. This arrangement allows traffic flow to be maintained while infrastructure is expanded for increasing demand.
