Schloss Schlemmin, Gothic Revival castle in Schlemmin, Germany.
Schloss Schlemmin is a Gothic Revival castle in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with solid granite foundations and a clear structure of two main stories, an attic level, and multiple towers topped with battlements. The building is proportioned generously, with towers forming striking elements of the overall form.
Eduard Knoblauch designed the building between 1846 and 1850 as a new construction on a site previously occupied by a medieval fortress from the 14th century. The new castle then took on the role of a manor house in the region.
The castle reflects changing uses across generations, visible in how its rooms and spaces have been adapted over time. Today these layers of change form part of what visitors experience when walking through the building.
The castle sits within a spacious park with mature trees and a water feature, allowing visitors time to explore the surroundings at a relaxed pace. Its rural location in Mecklenburg offers a quiet visit away from crowds.
The park grounds support rare bird species, including cranes that gather on the open water areas and can be observed from the property. This makes it a notable location for bird watchers in the region.
