St. Cecilia

St. Cecilia is a stone church with Romanesque elements in Hubbelrath and features a tower with sound arcades. The building displays a carved crucifix on its northern wall and houses a mechanical organ inside.

The church dates back to the 12th century, with records of an earlier chapel at this site from 950. The continuity of this sacred place over more than 1000 years shows the deep roots the community has in this location.

The church is dedicated to Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, reflecting a musical significance within the community. Visitors can still experience the organ today, which embodies this sacred connection.

The church is located near the center of Hubbelrath and is easily reached on foot. The building and its surroundings are accessible to visitors without particular barriers.

The church houses the oldest bell in Düsseldorf, cast by Heinrich Brodermann in 1440. This remarkable piece of craftsmanship is more than 580 years old and still rings in the church today.
