St. Sylvester

St. Sylvester Church features a Gothic hall nave with natural stone masonry construction and distinct sandstone and gravel ironstone building materials throughout its structure.

The church establishment dates to 1235 under Bishop Konrad I of Osnabrück, with the current structure's construction beginning in the late 13th century.

The church displays a 1534 printed Low German Bible every Trinity Sunday, donated by Reformer Bonnus to his local community during the Protestant Reformation.

Located near the central marketplace, St. Sylvester functions as both a parish church and remains open during summer months for visitors to explore.

The church houses a late 15th-century wooden donkey figure called Palmesel, traditionally used in Palm Sunday processions before the Reformation period.
