Tüshaus Mühle, Watermill in Dorsten, Germany
The Tüshaus Mühle is a watermill located at the southern edge of the Üfter Mark forest area, where the Hammbach stream creates a mill pond. The structure displays typical features of a water-powered production facility spanning multiple levels.
The mill site has been known since at least 1382, when the Lords of Lembeck established a fulling mill operation in the area. Over time the building shifted its purpose, serving various industries before transitioning to modern power generation.
The mill reflects local craftsmanship traditions where millers and their families lived and worked through the centuries.
The site is best accessed on weekends or special occasions, particularly during the annual Mill Festival held on Whit Monday. The location sits in a heavily forested area, so visitors should wear comfortable shoes and prepare for uneven ground.
Following extensive renovation starting in 2014, the mill was brought back into operation and now generates electricity through water power. This rare example of a functioning historic mill combines old craft traditions with modern renewable energy.
