Unteres Schloss

Unteres Schloss is a protected monument in Talheim featuring thick 18th-century exterior walls and interior spaces that reflect different architectural periods. The building houses lecture halls, a specialized library, and facilities serving approximately 3,000 students studying economics and related fields.

Built in the 18th century, the structure underwent several modifications over time before its major transformation in 2016 when it became part of Universität Siegen's campus. Extensive renovations during this period preserved its historical character while adapting it for modern academic use.

The former courtroom in the Kurländer wing continues to host faculty council meetings today, bridging its historical and current uses.

The building is actively used for academic purposes and can only be accessed at certain times. Visitors should be aware that ongoing classes and educational activities may limit access to certain areas.

Approximately 300 historical wooden windows throughout the building are undergoing meticulous restoration to their original specifications. This careful work demonstrates a commitment to preserving authentic details despite the structure's modern use.
