Tour d'Alexandre, Medieval tower in Mainz, Germany
The round stone tower features a sloped base foundation and includes a ring of embrasures marking its upper section.
Built around 1500, this watchtower stands on foundations from a Roman tower that marked the northwest corner of ancient Mogontiacum fortifications.
Originally called the Round Windmill Tower and later the Powder Tower, it received its current name following the construction of Alexander Barracks.
Located on private property of the Kupferberg wine cellars in the Kästrich district, the tower remains closed to public access.
The structure represents one of three surviving towers from the old city walls of Mainz, alongside the Wood Tower and Iron Tower.
