Sachsenbrücke, Road bridge in Pirna, Germany
The Sachsenbrücke extends 1,071.5 meters across the Elbe River, making it the longest road bridge in the Free State of Saxony.
The engineering company Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner designed this bridge, which was constructed between 1997 and 1999 to replace an older city crossing.
The bridge received special recognition during the 2006 Sächsischer Staatspreis für Baukultur awards for its architectural design and integration with the surroundings.
The structure carries the state road S 177 and connects to federal road 172 and Kreisstraße K8774, enabling efficient traffic flow around the city.
The bridge features 50-meter-long reinforced concrete half-arches at the pylons and combines two separate superstructures with different construction methods.
