St. Marien, Romanesque Revival church in Witten, Germany
The church features a long nave with pilasters, round-arch frieze, and a prominent southern tower with round-arched sound openings at Marienplatz 1.
Architect Ernst Friedrich Zwirner initiated the construction of St. Marien in 1846, followed by an expansion led by Arnold Güldenpfennig in 1895.
The building belongs to the Route der Industriekultur, a collection of religious structures that represent the architectural development of the Ruhr region.
The entrance includes ramps and modified pathways that provide complete wheelchair access to all areas of the religious building.
The dome area contains restored decorations from 1982 that reproduce the artistic patterns originally created during the 1920s period.
