Old Hof station

The station building exhibits design elements from the mid-19th century with a symmetrical layout and multiple platform tracks at 500 meters elevation.

Friedrich Bürklein designed this railway station, which opened in 1848 as a boundary between the Bavarian Ludwig South-North Railway and Saxon-Bavarian Railway.

The station marked a significant period in German railway development, connecting major trade routes between Leipzig and Bavaria during industrialization.

The original structure remained operational until 1880, when increasing railway traffic necessitated the construction of a larger station to meet growing demands.

The border between Bavarian and Saxon railway administrations ran directly through the center of the station building during its operational period.
