From 1813 to 1814, the summit served as a strategic location for an optical telegraph station along the Metz-Mainz communication line to Paris.
The surrounding nature reserve, established in 1991, spans 64.1 hectares and represents the regional commitment to preserving local ecosystems and wildlife.
A shelter constructed in 2003 provides a resting point for visitors exploring the hiking trails, with access available from the L415 road.
The summit offers a panoramic view encompassing over 40 villages and multiple mountain ranges including the Taunus, Binger Forest, and Hunsrück.
