Eisenbahnbrücke Corvey, Railway bridge in Höxter, Germany.
Eisenbahnbrücke Corvey is a steel arch bridge crossing the Weser River with five openings and a total length of 238 meters. The main span measures approximately 119 meters, creating a prominent curved structure above the water.
The bridge was first completed in 1865 as a railway crossing. It underwent major steel reconstruction in 1929 and was rebuilt again following World War II damage.
The bridge sits near the former Corvey Abbey, a meaningful site in the region. From here, visitors can sense the historical connection between the town and the monastery.
The bridge sits on the Altenbeken-Kreiensen railway line as a single-track structure with regular train service. You can best view it from the riverbanks or nearby paths along the Weser.
The original design came from engineer Johann Wilhelm Schwedler and was manufactured by Jacobi, Haniel & Huyssen in the 19th century. This blend of skilled engineering and craftsmanship shaped the structure that still stands today.
