Landschaftspark Rudow-Altglienicke, Landscape garden in Rudow and Altglienicke districts, Germany
Landschaftspark Rudow-Altglienicke is a 64-hectare garden with meadows, pathways, and green spaces built atop two tunnels running under the Federal Motorway 113. The tunnels, measuring roughly 300 and 900 meters, allow the park's continuous landscape to sit above the traffic below.
The park opened in 2009 as a restoration project following German reunification, transforming an area previously divided by the Berlin Wall. This project reconnected two districts and created a new green space at a historically meaningful location.
The park serves as a meeting point between two Berlin districts where locals walk, cycle, and ride horses through open spaces. The meadows and pathways encourage people to spend time outdoors and experience nature close to the city.
The park is accessible from several entry points, and buses 160, 164, and 260 stop near Siriusstrasse and Venusstrasse. The terrain is flat and well-marked, making it easy for visitors to navigate their preferred routes for walking or cycling.
Water buffalo graze in designated meadows during summer months, creating natural habitats for amphibians. These animals help maintain the vegetation naturally and support the variety of species in the park.
