Initially named Bernardschule after a local snuff manufacturer, the educational institution opened in 1910 and received its current name in 1926.
The school publishes Der Maulwurf, a student newspaper that received recognition as the finest student publication in the state of Hesse.
Students from grades 5 to 10 can pursue various educational paths, including secondary education certificates and preparation for the German Abitur.
The building houses original fixtures from 1910, including a historic school bath and specialized rooms for art education and culinary training.
