Schulungszentrum Großer Ziegenberg

The Schulungszentrum Großer Ziegenberg features a 36-meter-high bell tower that stands as a prominent landmark visible from many points in Ballenstedt.

Constructed in 1934, this educational complex initially served as one of 39 Nazi Party boarding schools before becoming a political training center during East German times.

The facility now hosts numerous community gatherings, including art residencies, workshops, and musical events that bring together local residents throughout the year.

Visitors can access the complex through the Wallstraße gate in the city wall, with the main entrance leading to a 140-meter-long ceremonial square.

The complex maintained its educational function across two different political systems, accommodating up to 600 students simultaneously during its operation as a party school.
