The Richard-Strauss-Institut maintains extensive collections of original manuscripts, letters, documents, photographs, and performance memorabilia related to the German composer Richard Strauss.

The institute, established in 1999, is housed in a villa built in 1893 by cigar manufacturer Georg Ludwig MayerDoß in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The permanent exhibition 'Strauss! Mensch & Musik Entdecken' presents multiple aspects of Richard Strauss as a composer, conductor, cultural politician, and family figure.

The institute opens Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with an entrance fee of 3.50 EUR, accepting only cash payments.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen holds the largest collection of Richard Strauss materials worldwide, making it the primary research destination for scholars studying the composer.
