St. Johann Baptist, Rococo church in Stamsried, Germany.

St. Johann Baptist is a Rococo church in Stamsried featuring a square tower on the north side of its choir section. The tower has an octagonal upper portion with a clock and belfry, while the interior displays a barrel-vaulted ceiling and a two-story gallery facing west.

Construction began in 1719 and followed late Baroque principles in its design. The three-sided closed choir was completed in 1739, establishing the form seen today.

The high altar from 1721 with statues of Church Fathers shows the style of Catholic religious art practiced in Bavaria. This kind of artistic approach shaped how people expressed their faith through decoration and sculpture.

The church is located at Gerhardinger Straße 4 and is easy to reach on foot. As an active parish church under the Diocese of Regensburg, regular services take place here, so check beforehand if you plan to visit during worship times.

The interior surprises with its open layout despite being a single-aisle church, which was typical of the Rococo era. The wide west-facing gallery allows an unusual view of the altar area from above.
