Church in Liebstadt

The Church in Liebstadt is a Gothic structure with a three-sided polygonal choir and a massive choir flank tower on the north side. Its portals feature pointed arches with rod decorations that characterize the building's distinctive look.

The building received its first mention in 1388, though the current structure dates from 1490. The choir section was constructed between 1511 and 1518, completing the form visible today.

The altar holds a Netherlands retable from the late 15th century showing the Crucifixion, Deposition, and Resurrection of Christ. These religious scenes represent important artworks that visitors can encounter in this place of worship.

The Lutheran church community of Liebstadt-Ottendorf maintains the building and holds regular services there. Visitors should expect standard opening hours typical of village churches in this region.

The choir features star vaults with interlaced ribs resembling those in Dohna's town church. The keystones were renovated in 1627 and 1628, still bearing traces of these early restoration efforts.
